Sustainable tourism is defined by the World Tourism Organization 3 (WTO), the Tourism Council (WTTC) and the Earth Council as in the following: Sustainable Tourism Development meets the needs of present tourists, host regions while protecting and enhancing opportunity for the future. It is envisaged as leading to management of all resources in such a way that economic, social and aesthetic needs can be fulfilled while maintaining cultural integrity, essential ecological processes, biological diversity and life support systems.

Sustainable tourism products are products which are operated in harmony with the local environment, community and cultures so that these become the beneficiaries not the victims of  tourism development. Globalization phenomenon as well as sustainable development concept are impacting the tourism practice in a way or another.

It changed the way tourism industry works by recognizing their environmental, social and economical responsibility in the host destinations. That gives opportunities for local communities participation in tourism projects, allows the ethical interaction between people from different countries without borders in terms of culture, technology and even language thanks to the internationalization of tourism. However, internationalization of tourism brings as well negative impacts to the destination and its inhabitants.

A need of sustainable and responsible tourism is then growing in host countries thanks to different resolutions taken on the international plan of tourism ethical policy. Therefore, this paper aims at demonstrating the relationship between the sustainability of tourism and the destination responsible management. There are fewer topics and studies that just focus on the setting on Madagascar, and meanwhile, there are fewer studies combining sustainability tourism and responsible management researches together. This is one reason for choosing the topic of Sustainable Tourism and Destination responsible management: The example of Ecovillage Tsaratanana in Ambohidratrimo.

Firstly, Ambohidratrimo is a small township but with a high reputation due to the Rovaof Ambohidratrimo. It is also one of the twelve royal enclosures corresponding to the twelve Hills of Antananarivo. Secondly, Ambohidratrimo is known, since few years now, for the project of Ecovillage Tsaratanana 4 that is based in the Fokontany 5 of Antohibe which attracts 3 The World Tourism Organization (WTO) is a UN agency dealing with questions relating to tourism. Its head quarters are in Madrid, Spain (ESS, 1995-202) 4 Tsaratanana: literally means beautiful village 12 international tourists. Thirdly, based on some existed researches, it can be seen that ecological recycling activities practiced there is one of the main activities for protecting the environment that can extend to ecotourism.
